Surprise a new post
Just firing this one back up. More to follow...
I'm sitting in Wyoming awaiting the chance to return home. Winter weather closed the interstate and my ride is on the other side of the closure. Now it is just wait until notified.
I'm taking a moment, after losing track for over a year, to restart activity on my little blog.
< Bob Dylan's boyhood home (8/22/2007)
Vacation day 3 and here I sit in Bemidji, MN on vacation. My day began in Superior, WI and after packing up, I visited Duluth, MN - a place I've only read of before. The weather was a bit misty, so visibility wasn't superb. I can't complain as I was even more fearful that it would be hot and humid. A fair trade...
Then I was off again, further north to the mining area of Virginia and then Hibbing. I stopped in at a view point overlooking Virginia. I wondered how the skies might have been before efforts to control emissions became the standard. There are many trees, not like back in Idaho. Even though they are green, it didn't seem a vibrant green. I don't have a reference point, so I don't know if it's normal or not. The flooding due to heavy rains is happening in South East Minnesota, not up here. It was sunny up here. My travels are just to try and get a view as I drive along. It's been pleasant. There are lots of lakes and rivers. I've crossed the Mississippi several times. In this area, it doesn't look like much. I do know it is more impressive a bit south.
Next was a stop in Hibbing - boyhood home of one Bob Dylan. I took some photos of his home on 7 th Ave. East.
Tomorrow I'll drive back south towards the Twin Cities. I haven't decided on a route. I'll ask of the several I see in my map book. Friday I need to return the rental car and join up with the FedEx Freight gang here to support our drivers in the National Truck Driving Championships. I wish it was me again... next year...
Stay tuned for more as I can get online and I think of it.... g
Hello once again.
I'm trying to improve my writing habits. I've been remiss for far too long. I'm back at it now.
I've got the BBC on my radio and I'm trying to wrap up my iTunes library work for now. I've passed the 130,000 song level. Quite overwhelming, but as I have them at my disposal rather than lined up to listen, it makes more sense.
Asheley & Austin are on a vacation trip to Mexico - what fun for them! Gunner & Sunny are in Boise.
I'm planning my own vacation, this time to visit family & friends in California. Too many wonderful folks and too little time. I need to set up my schedule AND finish our tax return. Oh joy of joys. What can't the IRS make the instructions 'user friendly'? Is that too much to ask?
Over and out for now - ciao
Arrived home on Saturday to a cool, damp Boise. It was wonderful! Austin is supposed to be 81ยบ today (Monday).
Something for those of us who use Mac OS X - go read about AppZapper 1.3 which I've read about in several places. Click here and read there and see if it is for you.
Tonight it is back to work. I'll be able to get back into my routine and get some rest.
More later. Resting up for a visit with Helen & Frank in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to it!
