Wikipedia / Hear Doc Hunter

Here is an interesting site that is seeking input. Wikipedia
I just altered their listing about The Cream, who are about to perform in London. Anybody offering me free passage and tickets?
I also enjoyed listening to Doc Hunter on KWMR and you can too. Just follow the link and click on the ON AIR image. From the left coast of California. Be sure to wear some flour in your hair, it hides the gray. :)

Jim Capaldi R.I.P.

As reported in Billboard online

Traffic Drummer Jim Capaldi Dies

Legendary rock drummer Jim Capaldi died today (Jan. 28) after a brief fight with stomach cancer, his publicist said.

The 60-year-old Capaldi, born in England of Italian immigrant parents, died in his sleep at the London Clinic in the early hours with his wife and family at his bedside.

Capaldi, whose driving rock rhythms and songwriting ability helped make groundbreaking band Traffic a household name in the 1960s and '70s with -- among others -- Steve Winwood and Dave Mason -- also had an illustrious solo career.

"Steve rang me when he heard this morning. He is very upset. They were very close and had plans to record and tour again. He was praying Jim would recover from his illness," Winwood's manager Mick Newton said.

Capaldi was inducted with Traffic last spring into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, just five months before being diagnosed with terminal cancer. A reunion tour was in the works but was scotched last August due to Capaldi suffering what at the time was described only as a "severe gastric ulcer."

When Traffic finally broke up in 1974 after releasing 11 albums, Capaldi busied himself with solo projects. Traffic eventually reformed to tour in 1993-94, and Capaldi toured in 1998 with fellow band founder Mason.

There is too much sadness and loss. I just received notice that my great friend Danika's Mother passed away after a long struggle with cancer. My best thoughts to Danika and her brother.
I've also learned that Spencer Dryden, of Jefferson Airplane and NRPS fame has also passed away this month. You can visit SpencerDryden.com to learn more and sign a guest book.
To try and offer something uplifting, go sign up for the Weather Photo of the Day. I like each day's email with a link to a nice photo. They have offered some beautiful shots.
That's all for now. Send me a message and inspire me, please....

hello for Helen

I've been inspired to post an update by Helen, who sent me a wonderful email. I don't know what is messing with my mind. I'm developing a serious problem with procrastination and I'm not doing well with balance. I think I'm doing well, but stuff is piling up at a sick rate. I did make some progress over my weekend, just one day, but I need to do more.
We have accepted an offer on our old home and now the gears must turn a bit until the system completes a cycle and we get the $$ to pay things off. That will relieve some pressure and one of my excuses.
I'm lucky that friends, like Helen keep my honest. Debby and Rod do that for me too. I thank you all.
Last night was a 487 mile run, luckily on nice roads with just a bit of fog. I hope it lasts the rest of this week. Right now I need to get washed up and ready for my day.

catching up - ketchup(?)

I'm about ready to go to work and home to Boise from Spokane. It's been a nice week, conditiions wise. There has been fog and some slick roads to deal with, but nothing too severe. Luckily the heavy rains and flooding have not had immediate impact on me.
This is an odd winter here in the NW. One week it is 17º in Spokane and the next it is 47º - so confusing. I prefer the warmer with the nicer road surfaces.
When I get home I hope to post the music I've been listening to on my iPod recently. Mostly the ancients that I prefer. I need to look at my iTunes list as I don't take notes while driving, at least not too often.
There has been some interest by buyers in our old house, and it will be a good thing to sell it and get it off our books.
Cheers - Gary

some links...

One of the best is Drew Curtis' Fark - warnings if listings warrant such. (NSFW) indicates Not Safe for Workplace.
A pal from Austin, Texas, Cornell Hurd - buy some music!
A pal in Bozeman, Montana - Ron Sanchez and his Donovan's Brain. Get some of those too.
My favorite Yoga studio is here in Boise, Boise Yoga Center.
More later, especially if I can't sleep.

Winter Driving

Ah the joy of driving big rig in Winter time. Friday night I departed Boise at 22:00 headed to Spokane via US 95. This is not my standard routing I take, but I-84 was closed at Ladd Canyon, so often the case in Winter.
Things looked so nice, until the roads became snow covered and too warm for good traction. I put some chains on but even they weren't enough for one steep grade. I added more and finally got back underway. I ran iron for nearly 100 miles through what looked like a National Geographic special. Loads of snow in the western part of Idaho. Very pretty but I couldn't enjoy it as I focused on safety in unfamiliar territory. It is odd that the temperatures are so warm. Snow can be more easily driven on when it's cold, but Friday it was just above freezing! That made it all more slippery. I eventually arrived at our yard in Spokane, a mere 12 hours after departing Boise. It is usually an 8 hour run. Slow and safe was my game plan.
At least I could listen to some nice music via my iPod. What a great gadget, allowing me so much to choose from. Let me see what I was listening to; Traffic, I finished a book, One God, Three Faiths, obtained from www.audible.com, some Small Faces, Spirit and Strawbs. Nothing from this century, except the book possibly.
More later, and yes, history has shown my tendancy to feel like a taco, quite often actually. After the northbound run, homebound turned out to be very nice. I didn't need to chain up, except in the yard in Spokane, due to 6" of fresh snow there. I was really exhausted arriving home early Sunday morning.
